How It Works

The filter's shell, fabricated in mild steel (MS), is designed to handle the working pressure of the filter. Inside, stainless steel (SS304) wedge-wire screen candles are mounted vertically, with their bottom ends open to the dirty fluid and top ends closed.

Operation Process:

1. Dirty Fluid Inlet: All candles, except one, are exposed to the flow of dirty fluid, collecting dirt inside the candles.
2. Backwashing: One candle's outlet is opened to the backwash port by aligning a rotary face seal. The backwash outlet valve is opened briefly, allowing the collected dirt to be ejected at atmospheric pressure. The large pressure differential ensures effective backwashing.
3. Sequential Cleaning: When a preset pressure drop is reached or the set time elapses, the rotary face seal aligns with the next candle outlet. This process repeats automatically, ensuring continuous filtration.
4. Recovery Filter: A recovery filter is provided to recover the fluid ejected along with the dirt, maximizing efficiency.

Our currently developed filter boasts 8 candles, each 1000 mm long and 100 mm in diameter, designed to handle a flow of 8000 LPM (480 m³/hr) of water-based emulsion for a filtration level of 100 microns. This system is set to revolutionize roll coolant filtration in steel cold rolling mills.
